Contagious

20090527174313

We took my daughter to the pediatrician's office for a vaccine update yesterday. (Vaccines are mandatory for public child-care centers in France.) My daughter loves the waiting room because its filled with toys. Most of them you don't actually want your child to touch because they look like they have been played with by many sick children. She and another little boy of about the same age laid claim on one ridiculously huge teddy bear, which they both called "doudou" of course. The bear was at least double their size and it was quite amusing to watch these little people try to lug it around. The boy was called into the office just before us and we waited patiently another 20 minutes before he came out and was declared "CONTAGIOUS". Yes, that boy had chickenpoxs. My daughter has never had chickenpoxs and had yet to be vaccinated for this, as it is an optional vaccination. I had chickenpoxs when I was a small child -probably around her age. It's not the end of the world, but it's Christmas and this did not seem ideal in the least. So she went in for one vaccine and ended up coming out with another. At least we'll be having a Merry Christmas without red spots.
