What's the first thing children do when they arrive in a hotel? The above pictures will tell you.
I surprised my husband for his birthday with a week-end trip to Versailles. We had a wonderful time and I scored some definite points on the birthday gift surprise scale. It's was only a 40-minute drive out of Paris, but the whole fun of it was staying in a hotel and getting out of the Paris routine.
We stayed at the Hotel Trianon Palace, just off the gardens of the Château de Versailles. The kids loved the pool, we loved the hammam and the 2 Michelin-starred Gordan Ramsay restaurant. It worked out well that I was obliged to take two rooms for ourselves and our two children. (Argh - having kids puts a serious dent in the travel budget!) We then had an extra bed for our babysitter, which equals romantic dinner sans enfants! It was also so nice to be right on the gardens of the Château, even if the weather was mostly horrible. This hotel would be amazing in the spring and summer with all of their open terrasses - though watch out for peak-season prices!
I'll post some more pictures of our week-end and our visit to the Château de Versailles in the next few days.
