The Hermès Secret Sale

(Hermès Fall 2010 ad campaign shot by Paolo Roversi)

It's expensive, it's chic, it is oh so Paris.  In fact, nothing says Paris like Hermès.  Hermès is actually one of the few boutiques whose profits actually increased during the economic crisis.  I guess someone always has money for luxury leather goods and silk scarfs.  I've heard a bag will set you back at least 7,000 euros and up to two years on a waiting list.  A silk scarf, or the carré, as they are referred to endearingly in France, some 400 euros.

That silk scarf can now be yours for 50% off at the Hermès secret sale.
Most stores have client lists and send out invitations for private sales.  Hermès does not.  Hermès discretely puts out an ad in the paper announcing a short sale period in an out of boutique site.

Oh to have a Hermès sac in your name. The "Kelly" bag after Grace Kelly who used it to hide her baby bump.  The "Birkin" after Jane Birkin who complained that the Kelly was just so difficult to keep organized.
